Found what I was doing wrong.
When I clicked on the Destroyer.sdf , a box came up telling me it couldn't find the file and to do a search for available programs on the Internet. It gave 3 choices to find it. Two of them were Through the Internet or Windows. I clicked on Windows. It led me to a list of program choices that I had on my computer. I chose Notepad. And then everything came up. After making the changes you mentioned, I copied and pasted the file to the game. It's up and running. Thanks for your time, patience and support. Julian |

Glad to be of assistance and pleased it is finally running for you.
FYI The project was developed over a period of about two years but discontinued in 2009. Very few people back then used DC and interest in WW1 naval was minimal. Most of the assets were in an unfinished form but there was enough there for someone to create their own scenarios if they were interested enough. (The scenarios I created were just to display the assets and have no real interest value). I uploaded the assets to mediafire who have since deleted them. The other source was the Iron Seas sub-forum on the SubSim 'Special Projects'. This was also removed from the main forum some years ago. However it was not deleted because you can find it here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=226 (But a lot of the graphics and links will have gone dead) Oddly enough I've recently been playing around with it again just for a bit of nostalgic fun. ![]()

Thought you might be interested in checking these out.
In the Downloads section, just below the first line of Sub-titles description, there is a link called -Legacy Downloads - This will take you to the Old Downloads section which have some of the early mods of Destroyer Command, Silent Hunter 11, Fighting Steel and more. I downloaded the 3 mods done by Rockwell Torry. This includes the following: Rockwell Torry's New Scenerios and Ship Units DC - WW1 mods - WWI mod so you guys can command the WWI_BB Repulse. Rockwell Torry's Battleship Command - modified some canned scenarios in the game to take control of some more ships. Rockwell Torry's Mission Pack - a collection of DC scenarios With Destoyer Command and all these mods that have been created by you and many others, I have an outstanding collection of naval battles and missions to keep me busy for very long time. From the Kriegsmarine mods in The Atlantic to the Italian mod, Mare Nostrum, in the Meditterrean, to the American/Japanese mods in the Pacific, I have pretty well covered most of the bases along with some World War One mods. Except for the AI control which goes off track sometimes in ordering ships around, Destroyer Command is a well done naval sims which could be improved It makes up for some of the old naval games we used to have, like SSI's Great Naval Battles - The North Atlantic - 1939 - 1943. Microprose's Task Force 1942. Fighting Steel. Wolfpack. ADS - Advanced Destroyer Simulation. |
