Icon9 Finding targets

I am playing the coastal water campaign and I am in the south western approaches but I am having difficulty finding any targets.
Can anyone help?
Regards Mel

Hey Mel, try doing a zig zag patrol pattern in your designated area. I included this rough sketch in paint to help you visualize what to do. Run in a direction at the most fuel efficient speed which is around 7 or 8 knots I think. Go for 1 or 2 hours in that direction and then stop and descend to 30 meters or so and do a hydrophone check. Then pick a course at an angle to that one and run for the same amount of time and do another check. Continue on the same course and do another check. Then switch back to the original course and do the same thing. Rinse and repeat. I hope this helps, check out THEBERBSTERS tutorial page for more help.

If you don't send frequent patrol reports then BDU cannot send you many locations of enemy targets .
Dive below 30 meters to get a good long range hydrophone reading . Take 2 readings , 1 with the sub at 90 degrees . Listen to the hydrophone yourself sometimes . Convoys wont travel to close to the coast , go a bit further out roughly where that red line is on the navmap .

^ This. If you are using sober's mod pack or the wolves of steel then bring up the shipping charts to see the convoy and merchant lanes. Try using the ptrol technique right on top of one of those routes.
