I found this clip on Youtube, showing a sonar station on a US boomer, USS Michigan (?). I figure that the left console has broadband waterfall displays. The right console, at least the lower display, is narrowband, right? What might the upper display show?

The waterfall display seems to show the same data repeated four times across. Why would that be?

Very cool clip, by the way. I think I'm going to purchase that documentary based on the link in the description.

Anyway, my first thought would be it's the same signal with different kinds of post processing applied to the signal. Remember, Dangerous Waters and Sub Command are simplifications of all these stations. I'm sure the Navy can do at least 100x the stuff with the signal than we can do in the game.

Here's another one showing what I assume is some form of narrowband sonar display, this time on an ASW S-3. (At 18.55 in the clip.)
