alfas were restricted to 450m due to hull cracking rated down to 750m when they were built restricted only 5 years after they entered service
alfas were always really noisey especialy at speed the prop's didn't help matters, alfas coming off the cape at 40knots could be heard as far away a Bermuda some 2500 miles RA is fairly accurate in this respect.
