Default Single mission save wierdness

Just was playing the U-505 scenario...was in the middle of it...4 escorts depth charging me to death....had to quit so I saved game...no problem.

Went back a few hours later to finish...game loaded OK.

Noticed that all was calm: No pinging from the 4 escorts. None of the control room crew was in distress....it was as if nothing was wrong.

So I did the external view, saw that the escorts were still looking for me, no pinging though..after a few minutes, they started to leave the area...so I decided to go to periscope depth....nothing... So I decide to surface with the escorts about 2km away... No response from the escorts whatsoever!! I even was able to sail in formation about 100m from one of the Buckleys..it was If I was invisible to the AI... :hmm:

I tried saving a number of times, each time the save loads, the AI ignores me!!!

Is there a fix, or is this bugged?

I had that experience twice in some of my single
missions (in stock SH3).

After reloading, DDs acted like I wasn't there, so I got
close to one of them, maybe like 50-100 m, and began
unloading my AA rounds, but they still didn't do anything.

It was really wierd watching my uboat sailing side by
side with british DD.

IIRC when you save close to any ships, when you reload the ships in the vicinity of you Uboot "forget" their waypoints and might act strangely. Just like escorts helping you out of the harbour running into the beach, convoys stopping scattering in all directions ending up the ships moving back and forths trying not to collide or stop completely or some odd things like that. Your cases sound just like that.
Hope this helps

Believe this is what happens when you save. Though I have saved in the middle of a fight and never had this happen, and never heard of this happening before. Maybe its just a single mission glitch..... :hmm:

It happens every time. Campaign mode I think is OK. I have never had a destroyer encounter when I saved my campaign.

In single mission, though, AI ships begin circling, they totaly ignore me, even if I surface, fire starshells, torpedos, deck gun.....It is rediculous.
It makes it impossible to save a game.

Dutch, do you have any mods installed??

I have GW mod installed.

Like I said, its probubly just the single missions, which you're right makes it completle impossbile to save games in those Missions.

I know I have saved a game while bieng DC so I could sleep and loaded it up the next eve to get welcomed by screams of flooding and DCs going off over head.

Of course I usually try and resolve from saving in these situations and I will just leave the game on pause till I have time for it again, it might be best for you to do something along those lines.
