I'm pretty sure they're submerged. That's how they look in the Museum anyway, and the one time I played the mission with the external camera on.
I have noticed the escorts (and merchants) will shoot at them, though. And the escorts tend to get a little trigger happy and firing pretty crazily, regardless of who's nearby. T |
