What is historical correct?

Saw a history program about these Gladiators and in this program, a historian said that these pictures of the empire or the people stretching their hands out with the thumbs down was incorrect...the correct procedure-according to this historian-was the thumb near the throat and going from the one side to the other

Gladiators were almost like the football player of our time, cost and value great. Losing one is almost a losing Ronaldo, Messi, etc. And the "owners"/sponsors were not very please if that happened.
Of course, the condemned men were to fight to the death or be kill in it.

They used to think that the essence of a gladiator gave some of his vigor. So they'd collect the used olive oil that a gladiator had used to bathe (in those days they used tepidarium and fridiaruim to open then close the pores then oil was used with a scraper on the skin to absorb the grime.) This was sold at a price and some women even well uh they acquired other forms of essence.

Anyway I use that tepidarium/frididarium method when I shower sans olive oil though I've used olive oil soap anyway if you've not tried it you should feels very refreshing. Tepid first then frigid and the type that takes your breath also makes you more resistant to changes in tempature like walking in from cold to warm which is a cause of colds.
