Man I must spend more time on the Internet, never heard about them until reading this thread. On the other hand forget it I rather read books.

As said above you can't keep crooks down they always come back.

Looks like Sweden has become the USA's little puppet.

The legaity of the operation depends on the country's membership to international copyright law, and this is generally an agreement between countries, or a group themselves.
For instance China AFAIK still does not adhere to any copyright membership, so pirate bay can exist there quiet freely.

I'd never heard of them until the kids mentioned it about a year ago.. All the kids were going nuts on this... it's just a rebellious phase. I was the same when younger.

The thing is about this sort of piracy.. is that the pirates are highly unlikely to buy the product anyway.

So while not being able to reduce piracy by any significant amount .. use it as a free advertising channel... you could reach an incredible market... and with gentle persuation, sell products for real, and make money on your pirate bay products by selling advertsing space.

But NNoooooo... business cannot pull their heads out their rear ends...

Actually I think it would just give the pirated stuff a legitimate look and all your honest customers will rather go for the pirated version then than the other way around. People are cheap after all.

I have a friend who thought Pirate Bay was the best thing since peanut butter and jelly. He found out the hard way that crime doesn't pay. He lost his internet connection privileges by running so much data through his tubz that he got caught and prosecuted by the copyright holders.

Piracy doesn't pay

Oh. Would you look at that. IsoHunt conveniently "revives" TPB.

Almost made it....

The pirate bay is more than just a domain, a page, an address to enter in your browser.
You can't stop it.

The whole "piracy is so bad bullcrap hypocrisy" thing is getting on my nerves.
I spend so much money on games - because I was able to check them out.
Think of that what you will, but the pirate bay isn't an evil thing, just some users are, those who take, take, take without giving back, without supporting by buying the product in the end.

Maybe this rings a bell:
The pirate bay doesn't pirate products, the pirates do.

Nope, they don't. They just give the pirates a pass through channel for spreading the booty around. In legalese that's called Aiding and Abetting.

If you really wish to try before you buy, wouldn't a subscription to Gamefly be the right way to go?
Considering all of the turds these game publishers have been putting in the retail pipe for the last ten + years, they kind of brought it on themselves in a way and makes me wonder who the REAL pirates are.

"Sorry, rental and subscription services are available in the U.S only."
I even had to google it, never heard of it before.

Even earlier than originally stated.

Yeah, I read somewhere that the PB entire catalog of torrent files and links only amount to 90MB, being that torrent files are so small. That would be a really easy system to have backups ready to transfer and go.
