Boy. Nothing is easy for me when it pertains to this stuff. I copied and pasted your instructions into a Microsoft Word document, and the the text is a light gray and difficult to read. I don't know how to change it, if I even can. I feel another "WAAH! coming on. HeeHeeHee.

Hi SS

In Microsoft Word look for the A with a colour underneath it.

The default colour is usually red.

The very small arrow to the right of it lets you select a different Font colour.

If you do not have the 'select all' preset tool showing you can either shade the text using your mouse or press CTRL + A.

Follow my instructions for JSGME using my tutorial post #4

For ease of use also download JSGME to your 'My Mods Store' folder and keep everything in one place.

Do not place folders containing data on the Desktop only 'Shortcuts' otherwise this will slow your PC start up.

To make a shortcut just right click on the folder and select 'Send to' then
'Desktop ( create shortcut )'

Hi Peter. I was able to copy your instructions into Microsoft Word in a readable format. Thanks.
I have made the SH4 Mods folder. As my first step, should I download the zip program? I actually think I have WinZip already on my PC somewhere. Do I really need a registry cleaner? Does it have any adverse effects?
After the zip program, what's next, download JSGME? after I download that I should install it, correct? I'm trying to get everything straight in my mind. Thanks. Jeff

Hi Jeff

If you have a look in your Control Panel for Programs and Features and have a look at the top of the list that is where 7zip will be and Winzip will be towards the bottom of the list if it has been installed.

I think 7z is easier to use than winzip but you can always give winzip a try.

The Registry Cleaner is a useful tool that is easy to use and the cleaner part of it can be used every day. Tutorial post #70.

When reinstalling the registry still has a lot of the previous installation in it and so needs to be removed.

When you reinstall there is always a possibility of a corruption.

Yes JSGME, as you cannot enable mods without it.

Everything you need to know is in my tutorials.

Just take your time reading the relevant tutorial.

Anything you do not understand you know where I am.

OK Peter. I'm going to look for WinZip first. Thanks. Jeff

Rats! I don't have WinZip after all. I'll go for 7Zip then. Do I put that in my SH4 Mods file after I download it? Oh. No. That doesn't sound logical. Perhaps you already told me about that. I'll check.

I downloaded 7Zip, but when I tried to open it I got a message that said I didn't have an "associated program" to use to open it. That's ironic. I don't have a program to open a program that's supposed to open programs. Gadzooks!

Any of those - 7Zip, WinZip, WinRAR - are all just tools for sending files in a compressed form. They install anywhere, and are used to unpack the files. The unpacked Mod files are then placed in JSGME.

Oops. I seem to be a message behind.

Right-click the file and select 'Open With', then find and select 7Zip.
