I was looking for 'flatter' rails, as the pre 1868 ones were not as thick and study as later. In those times it also was wide-track of course, but i will not change that..
Thanks. I'm using Atlas code 83 flex-track and the ballast is Woodland Scenics brand Grey blend medium.

Just finished wiring this bus for headlights using fiber optics. My first attempt with this type of model lighting and i'm pleased with the result.

Materials

I drilled out the head and tail lights and ran in the fibers. Then drilled out the head of the LED and super glued the ends into the hole.

I melted the end of the fibers into a ball and glued them in place

Drilled a hole through the layout and mounted it in place

As well you should be. That last picture looks like a photo taken from a traffic control camera on a dark night.

Excellent.

You might want to check this type of lighting out. Bet those airplane models would look sharp with running lights.

Yeah, I reckon your right but the old eyesight leaves a lot to be desired these days, hence the collection being diecast

That works very well. Given the era of your project I would suggest trying warm white LEDs so the headlights don't look so blue. Color temp 5000K is full spectrum while lower numbers move to red(warmer) and higher numbers blue(colder). A must for those 6 volt Beetles.

Very cool.
