The UK national anthem has already been posted but there are many others of a military theme, depending on your individual preference.

Here is one of mine:

Can't beat a bit of the old nostalgia

Rule Britannia

Here's another:

There'll always be an England!

A couple of local songs:

Fog On The Tyne

Blaydon Races

Dan D is not fully correct. At least since 1991, only and exclusively the third verse is the official German national anthem, the other two verses are no longer officially recognised as part of the anthem.

By text, many anthems seem to be violent and war-happy. By musical sound, I may like anthems that I do not like by text. The Russian one sounds great, the British as well, by text I indeed like the German very much - it is not so martial like so many others. But the music sends you to bed.

O Canada

I think our national anthem suits our country quite well. That being said there is now a bit of controversy about the lyrics. The line 'True patriot love in all thy sons command' is what the fuss is all about.

When I first heard about this I was apposed to changing something this traditional. But then the brain and heart kicked in. Women serve and die as police officers and soldiers so I think the nations song should reflect that. On that note here's a version by a nice Canadian girl.

Denmark have two National Anthems

One that is played when people like a President visit Denmark
(Kong Christian stod ved højen Mast = King Christian stood by the lofty mast)
And one that is played when Denmark play Football
(Det er et yndigt land = It is a lovely country)

As from what I know the first is official the other one is so to say unofficial

I much prefer Rule Britannia to God Save the Queen, however inaccurate it may be.

The US has a pretty cool anthem, but it needs a good beat behind it to really stir or to be played in a different key.
Two of my favourite examples of the Star Spangled Banner, or to be more accurate in regards to one of them, 'The Defence of Fort M'Henry':

(I wish they'd done a full version of this)

Then of course:

And, the Russian/Soviet anthem is pretty nice too, works well in rock mode:

errrrrrr yuk !! National Anthems... conjures up thoughts of patriotic lemmings.. mindless zombies willing to walk the short plank at short notice.

Funny enough I've never supported neither of our two anthems... Nationalism..z for me is a ..NO NO!!.

Don't get me wrong, I'll support the 'right' cause but not willy nilly...

Here's Mexican National Anthem.
Basically its about pride, defending the homeland from invaders and how we will never step down.

Unfortunately the people messing with mexico aren't foreign invaders.

Portugal national anthem - A Portuguesa (the Portuguese)

Was composed in 1890 by Henrique Lopes de Mendonça and Alfredo Keil, both monarchic defenders, as a patriotic response to the "Pink Map" incident/crisis!
Then it was chosen as the national anthem by the Republic Party, after the republic revolution!

Still the best Anthem! And one we all know the words to!

Obviously being English it can only be God Save The Queen, in particular the lovely cover version by John Lydon and Co.
