I'm sure those with savings of a million will appreciate the safeguard

Quote:
Bank of England set to protect savings of up to £1m

Savings of up to £1m are to be protected under new proposals from the Bank of England aimed at avoiding a Northern Rock style run on a bank.

Only money temporarily deposited in a bank, because of a house sale or an inheritance, for example, will be protected for a period of six months.

Under current rules a maximum of £85,000 is protected.

The new rules are due to come into force by July next year.

The only way they could possibly hope to gain any votes next election is for Clegg to resign and for someone outside of the current power block to be placed as leader. So not Cable or any of the current Lib Dim line-up in power, it'd have to be someone who hasn't been tainted by the ConDems, and someone who is prepared to push his or hers weight around.

Unfortunately, I think the party who are going to be the King-makers of the 2015 election are going to be UKIP, I just have absolutely terrifying visions of a Con-UKIP alliance after a hung parliament.

Still, time will tell.

Hopefully the LibDums will lose around 40 seats and 100s of deposits
And as for UKIP they are more Tory than the Tories.

I must admit after watching Cleggs speech, I thought he did a fair job at trying to get himself out of the hole he currently finds himself and his party in.

David Cameron was trying to win a voter over in the street,

"You do realise that under a labour government the pound in you pocket would only be worth fifty pence in five years, don't you? "

"What pound? " replied the voter.

The way things are going Ed is failing to win back the electorates trust in Labours ability to handle and or be trusted with the economy.

And that by election result in Heywood and Middleton was too close for comfort with Labour holding the seat with vastly reduced majority of just 617 from the new Tory party that are know as UKIP.

David Cameron celebrates his birthday today which by coincidence is also John Lennon's birthday.

Fingers crossed for the 8th December then.

Mr Farage told BBC Breakfast UKIP could hold the balance of power after next year's general election.
This may well turn out to be true.

Interesting results showing people are getting fed up with all three of the main party's. From here on watch this run up to the general election get very very very dirty from the big three.

The Tories & labour sayings are so out of touch.

Vote UKIP get a labour government
Vote UKIP get a Tory government

Seems only Cleggs lot have not said this so far.
