Of course the thing to keep in mind is that with more modern kit you do not always take all of it with you. For example gas masks and chem gear you would not bring every time unless you planned to use CS or expected an enemy NBC threat.

We also carried it every time we went to the field.
Buttoning up in MOPP 4 posture was always a PITA but, would keep you warm in the winter ![]() ![]()

Yeah well not in Iraq(post 2003) or Afghanistan or Vietnam for that matter lots of uneeded kit got/gets left. We never carried any of the chem gear at Bagrham cant think of anyone I know that ever took the mopp kit in the field over there better to swap that weight for water or ammo.
