Thank you everyone for your kind words. My Dad has let me use the computer in his favourite room just this once. He's not so bad really and I usually get my way if I butter him up with a smile and a few nice words.

Funny you should say that Tony because the boy is itching to move abroad and is waiting to see what his parents are contemplating similarly but talks are at the very earliest stages and both the boy and Ann and I are on hold until Lauren gets herself on track with whatever it will be.

Congrats to Ms. Buna for her academic achievement and congrats Mr. and Mrs. Buna for raising a fine child (and your other fine children).

May I ask what her academic specialty is and what is her intended field of career?...

Oh, and Jim my sympathy to you; I have had quite a few acquaintances blessed with very attractive daughters and have watched them agonize through those teen/dating years. While I sometimes wish I had children of my own, I don't think I could have taken the stress of raising a daughter. I used to say if I had a daughter, I'd be inclined to let her date sometime after my passing...

Her degree (as far as my dumb brain understands it) is in some kind of sports science which involves the managerial organisation side of things as well as some kind of linkage with physiotherapy and fitness which, according to her, allows a wide and diverse choice of career paths in management roles across many employment sectors.

Her current job is working in a large UK based retail chain (Marks and Spencer), they have a post graduate scheme where training is given in managerial roles within the organisation so part of me hopes she will choose that route.

She is currently madly in love with a nice lad and they seem well suited but you know how the saying goes...you can claw the cat but keep off the kittens

The funny thing is that my wife has never used her degree, not once in her whole career. Strange things can happen.

I think it has been more of recognition that she can think on her feet and can work hard.
