It really puts a fresh perspective on things. It makes it seem like the photos were taken recently. The thing about history is that the farther back you go, the more disconnected you feel from it. When photography came to be, it closed that gap significantly. Photographs let you look straight back into the past. Simply adding color to these old photographs makes me feel much more connected to the history behind them because it makes them feel so much more alive and real. It makes me feel a deeper connection with the people and the time period, and it makes me remember why history is so fascinating.

If you have a good imagination, some books can bridge that gap, like a time machine, words written a hundred years ago talking across the divide.

I agree, I'm reading a book about ancient Rome at the moment and I can really visualise the battles. Though, colored photos do bring the events to life. Especially World War I stuff, seeing it in color just makes it so much more real, instead of the "black & white, far away land".

I'm a lot more impressed than I thought I'd be. Great stuff!

They really DO look like they're recent pictures. I figured it was going to be the typical "halfway color" type of thing but these are awesome!

Nice find.

The Hindenburg one was the most impressive IMO. They really colored the fire well. So many ways they could've messed it up and they never did.

Very impressive.
And I agree with CaptainMattJ. it makes everything so much more real.

(would have been even cooler with some background info on those pictures though...)

The shot of Sophia Loren and Jayne Mansfield(with her head still attached) was particularly nice.

That thought did spring to mind.

Nice shots
