I've got a business idea

Following idea will never happen, ´cause i will never earn so much or get my hands on all the money needed.

Here's my idea

I buy Allure of the Sea or some other huge cruise ship

Send it to a shipyard where the ship will undergo huge Reconstruction. When the ship is finished the cruise will have lots of departments of different sizes

There will be international school for children, cinemas etc etc the ship will be like a little village except this village will be a floating one and only sailing where there's spring or summer

I don't know how much I should take in rental

Got this idea from an documentary and from Star Trek.

(Before I started this thread my head was filled with words and stuff about this idea and now when I'm writing it I have forgot most of it)

On this "houseboat" you do not disembark after some week or month you stay on the ship as long as you have your own department or pay for it.

It will be like you are living in a house near the ocean with your own balcony and your own kitchen a.s.o

You can of course go to one of the "Floating town"s restaurant and eat there

I have even been thinking about politics should the habitants on this ship have the possibility to vote on a mayor for this floating town (the captains of this ship will always have the last word(security etc)

I think we're going to see a few sea based cities in the future, be they on ships or on floating platforms, as sea levels rise there's going to be a lot of displaced people looking for somewhere to live.

Of course, we've got to figure out how to live on the ocean without completely screwing the ocean up, good game, good game.

Oh I get it now, you mean Apartments not Departments.
What is the name of that big cruise ship full of apartments that just sails the world so its residents don't pay tax anywhere?
Come to think of it I believe that ship that was in town recently too.

Mapuc, some time ago, I read an article what you're talking about. Theoretically, and technologically, it is possible, but financially and logistically, right now is unfeasable. Apparently, the concept is being studied. The idea is based on an aircraft carrier concept, but instead of a large flight deck, the top will be a large, open air park. Landing platforms for helicopters on back. Same kind of minimal deck structure for the bridge. I don't remember the details well, I don't even remember the magazine I saw it in.

Thank you for your answer. Guess its the same "ship" I have seen in different documentary.

As it was said it this program it will be huge and the price will be huge

So why not scale it down a bit and forget all about "airfield" and just have ordinary boats as they use to have.
Please do keep in mind, in my idea the "ship" I will not embark everyday maybe 2-4 times/month

And it will not run on oil or diesel or atomic power
