The U.S. Spies probably figured it out while routinely spying on China - and every other nation, and on every single phone call or email on Earth, etc. - so it's hard to muster up a lot of righteousness about it.

The U.S. has a lot of nerve to even mention "spying", holy crap. Elephant balls! Next we (I'm American) will accuse them of using foreign policy and their military to secure (steal...) third world oil and raw materials.

I do not think this is from our own playbook, I think it is just human nature. Spying, espionage, and intrigue have gone on since the dawn of mankind, it stems from a deep down animal instinct to distrust other cultures/races, and favoring your own, survival of the species.

My point? Humans are simply animals who are too smart for our own good.

The Chinese distrust us, but I do not think they hate us, respect us, want to learn from us, kinda like the Zerg in Starcraft, adapt strains using the enemies tech.

Not saying what they did was right, but anyone who thinks America is some poor blameless rape victim huddled in the corner of the shower, is just blindly patriotic, or insane.

I agree. Blindly patriotic or insane kind of describes two of many symptoms that our elected morons and their appointees suffer from.

The administration needs to flex its muscles, the Chinese make a great enemy, an easy enemy, as they are mostly blamed for the destruction of American Industry (not the American corps who outsourced, or the Government that made it easy for them to do so)

Alot of us are not falling for it.

I wonder where Eric Holder stands on "fast and furious". He wants accountability from the Chinese, perhaps a goodwill gesture on his part, with some honesty of his own, maybe a resignation.

People lose thier jobs and business for racial comments in (supposed) private (Donald Sterling), yet Holder outright and openly gives guns to people way more dangerous , and more of a threat to our country than any arab suicide bomber ever will be.

In my humble opinion of course.

You'd think the Justice Department would have the sense not to post the faces of these Chinese generals that we have no possibility of ever incarcerating, on wanted posters. I can't think of a faster lane to folk hero celebrity stardom than getting your mug on a wanted poster. Just ask John Dillinger or Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.

It's surprising that they didn't bump heads somewhere in the middle.

Do you really believe that China doesn't have it's own R&D? Thats quite foolish assumption to be honest. Besides they are definately building on information obtained from abroad - either legally (for example education from foreign universities, work experience abroad) or not so - but how they apply their acquired information, how they develop existing product, what totally new they create with knowledge etc. is still valuable.

I would even say that U.S. government would be rather incompetent if they didn't atleast assist American industry in obtaining foreign companies' trade secrets.

Besides most American companies are so entrneched in China, or regions around it these days, that it would not be viable to the shareholders to bite the hand that feeds you.

You seem to think American Corps value the American people, they don't, we expect too high a wage, compared to Vietnam, China, Thailand. etc, where these companies have a bulk of thier factories.

The low level of security of big business, mainly due to cost considerations and the unwillingness to spend to defend, speaks volumes about how vulnerable our systems really are; a prime reconsideration for those who are joyfully embracing "The Cloud" and placing their info and data in the hands of the same sort of businesses who were so easily duped...

Explain please? Industrial espionage is old thing that happens globally already. Goverments helping own country's companies in spying isn't news either.

Care to explain this? I missed where I said so. Companies go where best profits are available. Sometimes it maybe feasible to build stuff in America, unfortunately usually not (same applies to Finland). Unfortunately companies are not usually loyal to anyone (some maybe to shareholders) its very much who offers best deal at the time - ofcourse exceptions are likely to exist.

Well that is unfortunately what have happened in most western countries.

My point was that American corporations have done nothing to help us, and not only that, they knocked us down in the name of profit.

Why help them? They are only "citizens" when they need protection, other than that fire that American, and hire 10 offshore 3rd worlders for the same price, and no pesky human rights to deal with in these countries either, meaning we can go on the cheap, with inadequate safety measures, if any, and worker deaths/injuries just disappear, no pesky family settlements. Civil rights get in the way of profits.

I ask, why should my taxpayer money go into helping these scum?

I say we stop helping them, zero tax breaks.
