I'm quite certain somebody would've come up with the idea very soon after. After all there are 'stone' railways predating trains by hundreds of years.
And maybe either check the prices or win the lottery before you get a ticket. National Express bus would be a lot cheaper.

![]() 150 pounds for a 5 hour trip. I hope they serve a redhead with a lasagne. And another 150 for the return. You'd crisscross entire Slovenia for €50. Looking at renting a car, half the price including gasoline. And the bus takes 12hours ![]() |
