Had to reinstall SH 5 and am using win 8.1. I very rarely use the W-8 start screen ( Apps screen) and boot directly into desktop mode. Normally when you start the game the first time, ubi checks the version and updates to 1.2. I could not make it happen.
I tried switching over to the apps screen and started the game from there and the game updated to v 1.2. Make sure you have not placed a check mark in the UBI launcher settings tab " always start uplay offline" until the sim has updated. Might save someone some frustration. Ic |

Oh dear. No idea I'm afraid. Maybe someone has put the patch up somewhere to download and install manually?
Windows 8 - what a joke btw. Everyone just uses the desktop tab all the time anyway. How can your desktop be an "app"?? |

W8 can be viewed two ways, the older w-7 or xp type desktop or the new 8-1 Tile view. When a program is installed, a tile is added to the tile view. You can just boot into the older desktop view and not use the tile and use traditional icons on your desktop which is my preference.
But evidently to update SH 5 to v.2 you have to launch the game from the tile view in order to update. Don't know why it would make a difference. Just trying to save someone from a little more frustration |

Doing a try and buy with a new laptop, and the above happened. Tried the tile view option and no go as far as the update.
