I did encounter a 'Blimp' once when patrolling off the US Coast - I am not sure how fast they can fly but my Type IXb running at 17 Knots on the surface managed to outrun it - or perhaps they stay close to land?

Chances are it didn't spot you and adhered to its prescribed patrol route.
