Commander gives you a whole load of options....

Starting at sea, skip intro movies, simulate a realistic career length/crew transfers, use historic U-boat availability dates, randomise number of days in port between patrols, randomise gramaphone tracks, adjust water clarity, deck gun reload times, randomise crush depth/ship tonnage etc. etc. etc.

Well worth using IMHO.

Prior to the war start, you can go anywhere so long as you don't shoot at someone. If you shoot at someone, that country will be your enemy for 24 hours. Other than that, you can sail right into British ports and dock for some tea and crumpets.

SH3'd for a bit after it was released, but the mods over the years never fail to re-ignite my interest in it. Currently reading "Black May"

This spring took a drive between Finland and the UK, even stopped in Laboe to check out the Type VII, the Naval Memorial and Moltenort U-Boat Memorial.

Drove up to to Bletchley Park last weekend and planning on going up to Liverpool to see the VIIC/41 they dug up off the ocean floor this weekend. Have another month before I head back to Finland, might even get a chance to check out the brand new sub on display in Portsmouth.

Oh yeah. Best part of working 90 hour weeks in the Alaska summer - is getting the entire winter off to roadtrip in Europe and check out the battlefields and war museums. Last year's theme was Oliver Cromwell and the English Civil War. This year's theme is everything U-boat related.

European friends mostly think I'm nuts when I'd rather see Normandy - or the subpens in St. Nazaire than Paris. Was thinking about checking out the Type XXI Wilhelm Bauer in Bremerhaven on the way back - is it worth it? Anyone else been there?

I hope you enjoy the Liverpool visit but tbh I don't like the way they sliced her up.
