As another aspect to the perils of dating single mothers, I've lost count of the horrible news stories about abused or tormented kids that start out with-- "the mother's boyfriend is suspected of, or charged with...."

Sounds like this is almost always a bad combination on both sides of the equation.

My wife had a daughter to her first husband, we produced twin girls when we got together and have never had any of the problems listed above.

It has been 28 years now, the eldest is married and the twins are at uni.

My wife had a daughter when we got married that was 4. I certainly went through many of those things to a level, but wasn't bad until she hit puberty.
She loved playing the daddy card, even though her dad ignored her most of her life. Course my wife and I had another child by then.

I would never advise my son to marry a single mother..

The wife and I say to each other that if we divorce, or any of us kick the bucket... that's it, we're not going to put up with another one of us. We're going to party instead.

This is exactly why I'm single, and intend to remain so.
In one instance, I experienced all the 5 points presented.
Never.Again.

For a long time I thought it was my fault it all failed. Now I see I really tried hard, and hadn't but good intentions.

Being in a relationship with a single mother for almost 18, that list is correct with the exception of number 3. And the one about the sex, that worked out very well.

No matter what a single mother may tell you.... her family becomes your family and not always in a good way but certainly in a financial way.

Oh and by the way, this is not limited to her children. You will be expected to provide financial support to her sisters too.
