Ahoy Everybody.
![]() I hope it's ok to post this new thread here, because I used the Search function without a usefull result. A few hours ago, I played SH3 and received an Enigma coded Radiomessage. Here is the exact content of the message. ---------------------------------------- 13:01 Funktelegramm Von: U13 An: Alle Boote 1939.11.15 KOMMANDANTENSPRUCH Sende verschlüsselte Nachricht Schlüssel: B-J-L CXTF GJ-V TEXZ VYNV SO-N J-KI ZX-D HP-Z FWBI DEGP VM-- HEVO JXYM FYP- DOR- PWIV SALJ U-ZI XVTI XJCI -KXF VPTJ --VL YUHM -OXB HMWZ -CIB MNDD ZDRN -TDB BC-G WYFX TP-D NVJM BX-U MZCG -WPB -TRF LNVF -AEE GSL- HZ-A MMMW FUWC --HB HWEJ -ULN K--- -S-Z YDUS THC ---------------------------------------- After what I have found, in my search on the net, it seems have here to be an Enigma encryption. However, I have no code book found to decrypt it, and the - symbol confuses me, because it is not visible on the Enigma pictures. Why the question arises whether it is just a fake message, which will only improve the atmosphere of the game? Therefore I hope that someone here can tell whether the message is real or false. And if she's real, what's in it. Or at least told me what I need, and where can I find it to decrypt the message myself. In any case, thank you in advance for the help. Have a nice day and good hunting. Joy and Happiness Panthera Pardus |

Schlüssel means "key"
there is no way to give you a key in SH3 other than to - rather unrealistically - include the key in the message itself ![]() what you will want to do is google search "Enigma Simulator" review the instructions on how to use it. Appears that there is a 3 rotor key "B J L" for this message Set the rotors to match the key, then it should just be a matter of typing the coded text into the enigma sim, and out comes the plain text version.

Only the key won’t be enough to decrypt the message. You need to set the rotors and the plugs according to the date which is impossible without a codebook.
I presume the message you received is not different than any in game message which is there to create only ambiance.

Are you using some sort of mod for messages?
if so, perhaps there are plug board and other settings for the enigma sim in the readme file or other documentation? It looks like you are using the German radio transmissions, i have only used english, i dont recall ever seeing this message.

Meh, breaking your message written in a normal Enigma cypher without knowing rotors and plugboard is not a big problem (1939 -> encrypt with a Enigma M3). The Big problem is, that's a Kommandantenspruch. It mean it's tripple crypted with a Doppelbuchstabentauschtafel, i don't have from 1939.
More infos look Wikipedia. Good Luck ![]() PS.: - Symbol means this letter is lost by bad weather or something. PPS.: It work without Doppelbuchstabentauschtafel ! !Spoiler! Settings: UKW B, III, II, I Stecker- None Message: Starke v kampf gruppe b in g loch uewec eingelaufen ... :-)

Ahoy and Thank You,
for the quick posts. First of all for GoldenRivet my Game-Config. Silent Hunter III v1.4 and GWX 3 with, GWX - No Medals on Crew, GWX - Lite Harbor Traffic, RealNavMod (Only the Map with the Gridlines of the Longitude and Latitude), GWX - Contact Colours, WB's Renown Replacement, GWX-Set Keys, GWX 2 - No Ring Ring Mod and GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects As you could see, there is no Mod that changes, insert or remove Messages. So it is a normal Message of the GWX-Mod, I think. At least, when it is set to German Language and Text. As for the Google search, I have about 6 hours on the net for answers sought before I created the thread. Here I also found Enigma simulators. I have downloaded me a simulator, see the following link. http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/enigmasim.htm However, did not help me further because I did not know the position of the rollers, the ring position and the plug connection. This information was then listed in code books. For each month one if my information is correct. I had, here at SubSim, a download of a codebook found, but it contained only the month of September for the years 1939-1945. The problem with it, the message is dated November. Coincidentally, Aras has linked this very page in his second post. Thanks for that but I already knew. Now to the Post of OldWulf85. After the little bit I've read so far, I would say that you are right. But fortunately this is not the case in this message, as you have found out by yourself. So thanks for the Enigma settings at the end of your post. I got the message natural decrypted instantly, with it. But now I wonder how you have found the settings. Would be nice if you tell it to me. Just in case that more Messages like that will appear in the game. Even if it is not needed, I would still like them to decipher for me. Therefore i hope to hear from you again. Have a nice day and good hunting. Joy and Happiness Panthera Pardus P.S.: I dont post the decrypted Message here, because I don't want to spoiler someone. If you really want to know it, send me a Private Message and I will send you the decrypted version. Or you download the Simulator in the link above, and use the settings OldWulf85 posted. |

PP, have you moved in-game in response to the message? I've never seen one like that (I play German speech, English text) and I'd really like to know if it is actually valid in-game direction. That would be pretty cool!

You can also use this easy Enigma: http://people.physik.hu-berlin.de/~palloks/js/enigma/index_en.html , you can download it too and you must not install, you only need a random browser (work offline too).
To PP.: The settings are Standard in the Enigma-Sim (M3) I use on PC (look link), you only must use the Schlüssel. I use Enigmas to Crypt and Encrypt messages for longer then ten years and five years ago I build my own mechanical. If anyone have questions, send me a PM. ![]()

Ahoy
![]() BigWalleye, It seems that this message is only for Atmosphere. Because, after I received it, I completed my Patrol and moved to that Area. But I found only a big medical supply ship, a small Tanker and a few cargo ships. Nothing of Value to scratch with your submarine over these "Abwehrnetze" (don't know the right word. "defence network" sounds strange for me). OldWulf85, you used the browser version to decrypt the message? In that case it would make sense because in the Enigma-Simulator I used, the standard setting of the rollers are I II III. No wonder that decrypting did not work when I tried the first time. ^^ At the End a question for everyone. Is there a MOD that integrates a full working Enigma to the Game? With codebooks, messages and everything else you need for it. So, now I go on the next Patrol. Because Yesterday, I visited Scapa Flow and sunk 6 Destroyer, 1 troop ship, 1 small and 1 big tanker. Overall 28.300 Brt. and no torpedo left. I've only caught a few scratches when I snuck into the harbor. Did the curve, to get through the shipwrecks in the East, not right. This time I want to find out what's possible when I find a big Convoi. Therefore, have nice day and good hunting. Joy and Happiness Panthera Pardus |

Ahoy
![]() Thank You Aras. But it seems more worth to search for Convois. I found one yesterday. Just over 42.000 Brt, with 6 ships only. 2 Destroyer (Black Swan Class), 2 big Cargos, 1 Ore Carrier and the Southhampton. Ok, I know it is Off Topic, but a few short Questions to You. As I can see in your Signature, You are playing in the Donitz Elite Flotilla. Is there an Information Thread about it? Where I can See how that is working. The Game config I know (SH3 + GWX + SH3 Commander), but what about additional mods? And what settings you have to take to get at least 55% realism, or doesn't it matter as long as you reach the 55%? I'm already looking forward to your answers. And until then, I'll try out my new U-Boat. It's a Type IXB, before that I had a type VIIB. So have a nice day and good hunting. Sometimes the answer is easier than people thinks.
![]() But I decrypted harder messages, so when you or anyone need some help in the future you know where you can find me. ![]()
