Quick question for some of the more experienced captains out there. I'm currently on my first real patrol to the British costal waters for a patrol.
I believe that I'm the captain of U-21....that said, Bdu keeps sending me radio messages about updating my position and status. I'm using TDW's most recent UI and there is no option to update Bdu from the radio operator. Curious if i'm missing something or there really is no way or its something automated. Secondly, I noticed that coming out of Kiel and traveling up past Denmark through the North Sea burns an awful lot of diesel. I was at ~ 75% just before getting in range of British fighters / sub hunters. Earlier I had requested, via radio, a resupply to top off on fuel (not sure how long I would have to move throughout the coastal waters to complete my mission)...but was denied. For what its worth I am running the patched .exe via TDW's generic patcher and the refueling is patched. Thanks ahead of time for all the help! RTB |

Sending contact reports sends BDU the location, numbers, direction, speed etc of an enemy task force or convoy. Later in the game its how wolfpacks develop with one sub who finds the convoy shadowing it but staying out of sight to keep updating its contact position whilst other U-boats rush to reinforce and form a wolfpack.
I've personally never seen that happen - but apparently it can with the mods like TDW's AI mods etc. If you are in range of Luftwaffe support Goering might let one of his flyboys come and have some fun with a convoy if you call it in. I have seen this happen. Its awesome. I don't know what reporting weather conditions does (if anything) in game. Re: Fuel - use the Kiel Canal. And I think the most fuel efficient speed is about 10 knots. You wont get a request for resupply accepted until Operation Drumbeat (I think) when the milch cow U-boats become available. |

Thanks for the clarification. During my first mission to the British costal waters i was able to make my way into a port. I took out 5 tankers and 1 escort + 1 transport while i was moving through the north sea. The problem is i ran out of torpedoes and i'm running low on fuel and my objective is yet to be considered complete

Sending in position reports and contact reports will sometimes have Bdu tell you about a nearby contact sighted by someone else. Also sending in contact reports can have Bdu dispatch subs to your contact if you have the correct patches enabled of my Generic Patcher. |

I never noticed position report as an option to be honest. I was able to get the generic patcher working and use what you showed you had enabled.

It's not a crew dialog that I remember. You have to click Radioman icon (from the officers icons)-->Reports-->Position report in my UIs mod.
