Default Sh3+GWX3 Gold+SH3 commander skybox graphic issue

Guten abend, Meine Herren (und Damen, if the case)

I have a SMALL problem, as small as it is, it's so annoying. i'd like to ask for some help.

I play SH3 with GWX3 Gold, with a few builtin mods enabled +SH3 Commander.

Everything was PERFECT in my first 2 missions, but then in the third an ugly graphical glitch appeared above my head. I will try to put an image here:

The thing is not passive, its flickering with great speed, ruining everything I see. It goes down to the horizon line, but that cant be seen on the picture. IT's kindda killing my eyes...

Below is the list of mods enabed in JSGME:

GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects
GWX - Integrated Orders
GWX - 16km Atmosphere
GWX - Open Hatch Mod




Any help would be greatly appreciated

Now , try to start a new career to see if the problem remains. It may be a corrupt file since it was working fine so far.

Yes, same thing with a new career as well. Started in a new flottilla, but same ship, VIIB


Very disturbing. I think I might try unabling the GWX 16KM view, that is the only one that seems to have something to do with the weather...

I got something like that a while ago...but it was a complete black sky all the time.

I got rid of the mods started a new career and added them one by one until it worked again...with the same mods oddly enough...must have been a ghost in the machine....

anyway it worked....

That's what I just did right now. Unselected all mods, and enabled them again. Still the same. (Furthermore, I can not see the long and lat markings on my map I just received a message of a battle occuring at long 41'17", lat whatever, and cant locate the place on the map.)

Next step is unselect all mods and run game WITHOUT any mods enabled.
Start new career as well...and delete the SH3 folder in your documents that holds you patrol and career information. The game will create a new one anyway as soon as it loads up.
Start off with a fresh set up

See how that goes first.

Erm.. I cannot delete GWX, that means reinstall everything... but I'll give it a try.. ohboy, I just wanted to play a bit

NO NO NO

1.Delete all the mods
2.Delete the folder in your "Documents" that holds the patrol and careers the game will make a new folder called SH3 anyway.

3.Start a brand new career in the game and see how it is then


4.DO NOT delete GWX...only the career/patrl folder in your documents

Did you change anything on your graphik-system? Like antialising or anisotropik filters on your graphik-driver? Or even a update of the driver? Then go back to basic settings and start testing.

Lol, John... I was assuming that GWX is a mod as well so you said ALL the mods.. anyway, I get the picture.

I did as you said, and MIRACLE!, it works
Although there is NO logical explanation...

So, THANK YOU, Kapitán Johnfb, it works now.

What I do next is enable mods one by one and see if they work. No, first I start SH3 Commander, that is the most important. I'll be back with results-

Paulebaer, i did not modify anything in my computer configuration.
What I did tho, is tweaking a bit the VIIB submarine to have more torpedoes on reserve I need that since my playing time is very limited (wife and kids an all), so I need that extra 4 torpedoes not to be forced to go back and resupply all the time. know it ruins realism, but hey.. its a GAME

Happy days...delighted for you.


It is worth remembering that if you get a glitch lke that start a new career but ALWAYS delete the SH3 folder too, as the fault will more than likely be in there too....

Not so fast with the trumpets.

I have it again, with a brand new career....

It must be one of these mods:

GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects
GWX - 16km Atmosphere
GWX - Lite Harbor Traffic
GWX - Integrated Orders

strange is that documents/sh3/data/cfg folder contains only .cfg files refering to career, i cant realize how they can ruin a grafical setting?

Unfortunately my gaming time came to an end for today, so I see you tomorrow my friends. Thanks for all the help, and for the quick answers.

Install one by one to find the bogey....wouldnt be surprised if it was the atmosphere one....look at page 23 of the manual

I have no problem about this. Just for fun i have a basic.cfg with a lot more torpedos and ammunation for flak and deckgun. (6 torps for typ II, 18 for VIIb, 21 for VIIc, 23 for VIIc41, 27 for VIIc42, 26 for IXb, 32 for IXc, 33 for IXc40, 34 for IXd2 and 29 for XXI) together with 2800 shells for deckgun i can have a lot of "fun" sinking ships.

About your problem:
I would test every mod in single an in all possible combinations.
Does your pc gets updates automaticly? Sometimes this is the reason fpr trouble.

Would you be able to post your cfg set up for this I would be interested in trying this out
