That BMP struck the pavement that seemed to break the left track which caused it to fail. Not sure though, I'm sure there's people here with more knowledge about such things.

Still, it continued on a little while with a missing track before coming to a halt, and being towed away.

They can still move but can't steer very well.
If the track came off that easily, it either was poor design or a poor repair made prior to the engagement.
