There are only two ways to install a mod into the game. The first is using the JSGME, the second doing it manually. The JSGME is the quickest way to install the mods, a few clicks and your done. However, if you prefer to do it manually that is entirely up to you. Don't forget to back up your files first before you begin though. Using the JSGME does not require you to back up files though.

JSGME is easy peasy once you read the guide, and is one of the best free pieces of software for gamers. Learn to use it and you won't regret it.

JSGME is the easiest way to add or remove mods that I have ever seen.

Sure you can do it manually but it will most likely take you 5 times as long to do it and if you get one file wrong in your adding and changing and renaming old files to be replaced by newer ones then back to old files when you want to remove a mod then ...

your screwed and reinstalling the entire game over again.

Just follow JScones instructions and it is a piece of cake. You can also use it for other games and create profiles within JSGME so your not removing or adding mods one by one when you want to change many of them all at once.

Open the GME and look under TASKS in order to create profiles.

I use Multi-SH4 so there is no need to reinstall.

I keep a clean stock install and don't play it.

Then I make a copies of that entire clean game and mod those, some with JSGME and another 'hand edited'. If something would ever go wrong I would delete the corrupt game and copy a new one from the clean untouched install.

Haven't had to do that in years...

For RFB I decided to just overwrite everything in the Data folder with RFB's files. Then I put JSGME in that RFB install and added a MODS folder for the small stuff.

If RFB ever changes or gets updated, I'll delete that RFB dedicated game and make another copy of my clean install and do the same thing.

Happy Hunting!

I have had the same game install for over five years now and only use JSGME. The only reason I even had to do that was that I got another computer back then.

Could you give a reason why you think JSGME is stupid.

You are obviously having some sort of problem. And your Subsim family is here to help.

JSGME is a doddle once it is installed.

It takes a copy of your files for safety.

If you forget to take a copy.
