Since i've been expressing my opinion lately, here's another one:
I have some family members who are LEO's in California. A few months ago I learned the following in regards for them to acquire standard capacity magazines: - They have to get a signed letter of authorization by their department chief. (Good luck with that) - They have to pay for them out of their own pockets. The department will not reimburse them. - If/when they leave the department, the magazines stay with the department. I don't mind saying, I think that's one of the biggest crock of excrement I have ever heard. I had no idea about any of this. I thought a cop could acquire whatever they needed in order to do their job, but that simply isn't so given the particulars involved. It's bad enough Calfornia restricts the citizenry's right to self defense, but the hoops cops have to jump through is ridiculous. |

California operates under it's own set of intergalactic rules and laws.

It's not in the California Book of Kells.

The kick in the teeth, is we're talking standard magazines. Magazines that come with the gun when you buy it. Only in three or so of the states do firearms come with substandard or limited capacity magazines. California being one of those states with magazine capacity limited to 10. The rest of the country gets the standard magazine.
Say for instance you want to buy a Beretta 92FS. In the majority of the country, it comes packaged with two 15 round magazines. This is the standard magazine. Despite media and political portrayal, these are not "hich capacity". They are standard capacity; and if i want more, I can simply go down to my local outdoorsman or gunstore and buy some for no more trouble then the drive it takes to get to the store. Now, compare that to my relatives in law enforcement in California. Their job is to enforce the law and keep the bad guys at bay so ordinary people can have peaceful lives. So restrictive is that state, that the people whos job entails carrying these items every day, as tools of the profession, can't get standard magazines as readily as people can in most of the country. That's just retarded. |

Wow. Bet this would not have happened if everyone in the room would have had a gun... ![]() Amazing what can kill you these days. "Sorry, your husband/boyfriend was killed in a cinema for writing a text message." What the hell. |

Maybe if the police had smaller capacity mags, they would take some time to aim their shots instead of just spraying the area when there are innocents around?
Give your average cop 15 rounds and he will shoot 15 rounds Give him 30 rounds and he will shoot 30 rounds Give him 10 rounds and he will shoot 10 rounds As a professional card-carrying innocent bystander, I think I am safer when the police have less ammo to spray at someone they suspect. ![]()

Personally, and this is just me mind you, I wouldn't pass judgement unless my ass was in a high stress situation where I may concievably die and not get home to my family. I don't think I would have high expectations to hit bullseyes with heavy breathing, fast heart rate, adrenaline, fear, all hitting me at once. That said, I do agree they need more then an annual qualification. Quote:
CNN has been short stroking this story all day. It's like their wet dream come true. Shooting, murder, cop, theater. All great keywords for great ratings. Last edited by Ducimus; 01-14-14 at 09:25 PM. |
