Actually within the nautical context of the forum, 'Damn' is permissible. Rear Admiral David Glasgow Farragut established the precedent famously at Mobile Bay while lashed to the rigging of his flagship, Hartford "Damn the torpedoes! full speed ahead" at Mobile Bay, 8/5/1864. His column of stalled warships then rushed through the field of tethered infernal devices to take the three forts protecting the major seaport and destroy the mighty Rebel ironclad Tennessee which had the temerity to take on the entire DamnYankee fleet(depending on yer point of view), inflicting considerable damage before surrendering to overwhelming numbers. What a rear admiral can utter at a critical juncture of a stalled fleet...a kaleun should be able too, with a cranky computer; multiple ctd's and the occasional tdc failure. Additionally, I submit the Tom Petty album: Damn the Torpedoes-1979; the Melbourne punk rock group, Damn the Torpedoes...and the video game: Damn the Torpedoes...version of Hydro Thunder as additional fait accompli to the use of the expression. I do admit to some bias though, inasmuch as my avatar, U-666, der Gefallen Engel, mootly implies ...DAMNATION!
