Default SH3 Weather Mod

Is anyone able to use this without problems? Whenever I use it, my sky is stuck black all day long. It looks horrible.

Actually I just turned off, and then turned back on the atmosphere mod and that fix it. Must be buggy.

Does anyone know how to uninstall this, and return the game weather back to normal? It doesnt work through JSGME. Its a seperate EXE. This is a horrible mod that does not work right at all. I just had a complete down pour with not a cloud in the sky. The stock weather is much better.

Been using it and having no problems whatsoever.

Although I highly suspect this has anything to do with SH3 weather...

From the readme file:

"BE SURE TO BACKUP your Campaign_SCN.mis, Campaign_RND.mis and Campaign_LND.mis files before using this utility!!!! Better safe than sorry!"

...

"PM Skweetis at the SUBSIM.COM forums with any bugs, issues or enhancements that you have for the programme. Ill do my best to respond in a timely manner."

Ill create a "rollback" option in the next release. Good Idea.

The only things that are changed by the program are the following keys in the mis files:

Fog=0
FogRand=0
Clouds=1
CloudsRand=1
Precip=1
PrecipRand=1
WindHeading=191
WindSpeed=0
WindRand=1
WeatherRndInterval=11

Those are not stock values shown there, someone may have the stock values that you can go in and change back manually.

Those are the ONLY values that SH3WeatherGen touches... it does not add textures, or any files... it ONLY modifies those values directly in the mis files... it does not overwrite anything or copy over anything.

As for the black sky problem you are reporting... no-one has ever reported this to me, nor have I ever encounted this problem myself, and I use it all the time....

Possibly, have you installed any sky mods lately? What mods do you have installed through JSGME and I will try to reproduce your problem.

PS- Which version are you using? can you get the contents of the log file for me (just open it in notepad and cut and paste the text here), if I have a faulty section of code I will happily fix it.

I also need more information:
Are you using random or manual weather?
What month did you have selected?
Did you have the 29th Flotilla option checked or not?

I can fix most issues if you can detail the problem for me....

Cheers,

Jamie

Default weather mod

This mod has worked perfectly for me since my first install. I think it is great and it has really improved the visual effects greatly.
I'm not sure what the problem is, but the black sky problem is in the scean_dat file and the env folder. Perhaos some other mod has screwed up these files. If the black sky problem persists, copy these files back into the proper folder. This is not a problem with the weather gen mod.

As irish1958 has stated, black sky probs are caused by mismatched env files to scene.dat. I can't see how SH3Weather would cause this problem.

So... I dunno how you install your mods, but my bet is that you've installed conflicting sky/atmosphere mods at some point without appropriate housekeeping.

I'm just using the Atmosphere mod. A lot of times when i'm coming out of night. My sky just stays black all day long. But when I uninstall the atmosphere mod, and reinstall it, this fixed that.

As far as the weather program, it doens't work right for me at all. I've been using it under the random setting for a month, and I haven't had anything over 1 meter of wind. I get rain with clear skies. Nothing seems to really work right with it. I enjoyed the stock weather much more.

Can someone post the default weather values?

Which version are you using? (it will say in the title of the window, 1.02 is the most recent thus far, previous versions do have problems)

THis information is very important to me, whether you choose to use it or not. If it is a problem in the code, then I would like to fix it in the next release.

I will reinstall SH3 tonight, and get the default values for you.

Thank you very much for your assistance in this.

Cheers,

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Well my careers always start in September, so I select that, and make sure that 29th is unchecked, then click generate, then start my career.

Now, when my career moves into October, I need to regenerate the weather for that month right? That's what ive been doing. Even when I try to input user generated weather, it doesnt quite work right. If I put in Overcast, Heavy rain and wind, all I get every time is heavy rain, no wind and usually partial clouds. It never seems to do exactly what I tell it. And the random part doesnt seem to work right at all. It always starts me with light fog, no rain and partial clouds.

I don't know if the problem is the app, or if there is a conflict with one of my mods. I am using many mods, including the atmosphere mod. And I like I said earlier, I get the black sky problem all the time, and always have to turn that mod on and off to fix it.

Im at work so I dont know the version right now. But I downloaded it about a month ago. So whatever was out then is probably what I have.

Hmmm...

Seems symptomatic of an earlier version...

In your sh3 folder you will find a SH3Weather.log, open it in notepad, and paste the contents here. If you do not have a SH3Weather.log file, then you are definately using an older version.

I'll get those default values for you tonight, and i will also install the ATMOSPHERE mod and see what is happening with that.

Thanks for the response.

Jamie

I'm using without problems. It's a great mod and do not hurt anything in your files!

Nice work Skweetis!

Thanks guys for the kind words! It means alot comming from you!

trenken:

In your .mis files the values should be changed to:

Fog=0
FogRand=0
Clouds=0
CloudsRand=0
Precip=0
PrecipRand=0
WindHeading=0
WindSpeed=5.000000
WindRand=0
WeatherRndInterval=5
SeaType=0

Those are the defaults for a clean install with only patch v1.4b. I had to format and reinstall my computer anyway, so I was able to get the information for you before I began employing mods and such...

Cheers,

Jamie
