What you're seeing may be your fire control solution for that target. If the target is hit and sunk, the generated solution keeps running until you manually drop the contact. In SHOW TRUTH, generated solution (and platform type) does not show in 3D view mode.

The TRUTH set to ON still works as before, even when turning the 3D off. I can't lock on with any missles or torpedoes. I set up a very simple scenario in mission editor. I had 3 supply ships crossing at a 90 degree angle to an Akula II's course to test the suggestions you gave me, Neptunus Rex. Still, no luck. |

Even though a platform has been hit, maybe even sinking, your sonar will still see the target and correlate that with your previous solution or will just generate a new contact number. You have to go into preference's and tell the system to ignore sinking targets. TRUTH on turns your fire control team off. You have to enter the target azimuth and initializing range yourself.

For what it's worth, I have a slightly different explanation. My guess is that the "extra" contact is not a contact at all, but the actual dead platform. If you unclick the "show dead platforms" cheat, the dead platform will not pop up on the NAV map and the issue will be resolved. As Rex already said, the contact will persist until it is dropped. (Right click menu at Nav or at TMA station to drop.)

Thanks for the welcome, and I figured it out. It was just a matter or dropping a contact after sinking a ship, as long as the dead platform option is engaged. A "new" contact will peel off from the "dead platform contact," and it's easy to see which is which. Hope that makes sense.
