Ducimus, I am a weird Liberal.

I llike taking care of poor folks, but I hate my liberties being stepped on in the name of some people having zero discipline.

They want to ban guns because they cannot control the illeagal element that gets them, so they do some feelgood law to ban lawful owners. That is why libs annoy me.

Then I go look at the repubs, and see religion, and Jesus, and racism....Err not my cup of tea, and a screw the poor, feed the corporate mentality.

Demoncraps got some things I like, but Republicons got things I like too.

I want a party that splits the 2, states rights, but justice for all.

Too much to ask, I suppose.

( no slavery, gonna have to secede to get that done.)

Here is where I disagree with you. The heck with a "party". Either go "unaffiliated" or "independent". Half the problems in government would be solved if those in government were less concerned with the "party" and more concerned with the people.

Well, we have our disagreements, we have our agreements, and you have my respect. I do wonder if your having a "political identity crises" for want of a better term. I say this only because I find I have leanings towards libertarianism, and I often see you displaying similar leanings.

Over the years I have gotten all kinds of labels on this forum. Ive sided with Democrats on some issues. I've sided with Republicans on other issues. I've had hardline lefty's on this forum proclaim me a hardliner republican, and i wouldn't doubt if i've been accused of being a hardliner lefty by a hardliner republican in the past.

In any event, given all that has happened this last year or two, between the NDAA, patriot act, NSA, attempts at the second amendment, etc, all of which raised my awareness to other civil liberty issues, and I find that I am very much a one issue voter. Our natural rights as enumerated by the US Constitution. It is my belief we live in an age that will be formative for successive generations, and if they have the same rights and freedoms that we were born with or not.

Our rights as enumerated in the constitution is an interwoven tapestry. You pull on one, and another will start to fray. That is why fighting for things like the second amendment, is so vitally important, and something often overlooked by the anti-gun crowd. I am often puzzled at how they would advocate to limit their own liberties simply because they choose not to exercise one of them. My view is the second, is much like the first. You don't have to agree with what their saying, but you should defend their right to say it.

Rights are boolean. You either have them, or you don't.

Well there is the problem - your one of them wishy-washy people who can't toe either party line!

Seriously - people that go issue by issue, stance by stance - are those that have a chance to save this nation. Sure, we might disagree on stuff - but toeing the party line doesn't help the nation - it only helps the party.

And I don't want this nation to be equated to a "Party". So good on ya!

Since i've been expressing my opinion lately, here's another one:

I have some family members who are LEO's in California. A few months ago I learned the following in regards for them to acquire standard capacity magazines:

- They have to get a signed letter of authorization by their department chief. (Good luck with that)
- They have to pay for them out of their own pockets. The department will not reimburse them.
- If/when they leave the department, the magazines stay with the department.

I don't mind saying, I think that's one of the biggest crock of excrement I have ever heard. I had no idea about any of this. I thought a cop could acquire whatever they needed in order to do their job, but that simply isn't so given the particulars involved. It's bad enough Calfornia restricts the citizenry's right to self defense, but the hoops cops have to jump through is ridiculous.
