I've been here 42 years now, and I've seen "winters" were it never snowed at all. I also remember one February when the low in Park City was -44, and at noon it sometimes got all the way up to 0. In Utah you just never know.
You know, I made my post yesterday morning excepting maybe a chance of rain in the afternoon. Instead we get our first snow for the season. It melted off in a few hours, but, nonetheless i spoke too soon.

We are about 4000 feet above sea level. The mountains are just a few miles away. The ones in the picture are just foothills. From elsewhere in the city you can see mountains 11,000 feet high.
Well, in contrast to the that picture in 2011, here's one I took in December of 2012.

Yes they are, mainly because they're all true.

It depends on the year, but id say the valleys in california dont have much of a fall. Sometimes we forget its winter too. Last year Halloween was 92 degrees. This year it was cloudy the majority of the morning and by around 5:30 it was a nice 70 or so. IIRC Christmas was also something like high 80s last year, low 90s two years ago, and completely clear skies, so it was actually a bit warm.

The sad part i think is that many of my friends complain of how cold it is and its only like 65. When i went to tucson two weeks ago, all of the University of Arizona students my brother was friends with were telling me to bring a jacket because it gets really cold this time of year. Ive been to tucson countless times, and i was there when it got down to a local-record-breaking 6 degrees, so i knew it certainly had the potential to get pretty cold. But it got down to maybe 60, and of all the nights i was there it never went below maybe 58.

All that came to my mind is "Is THIS your definition of "cold"!?!? Not even my dad (who lived through -20 degree snowstorms in minot, north dakota) is very acclimated to the cold anymore. All i have to say is that the people who think 65 degrees is cold haven't experienced REAL cold.

Then again those who think 90 is hot haven't experienced REAL suck-the-moisture-out-of-your-lungs-every time-you-breath heat.

"It's hot. Damn hot! Real hot! Hottest things is my shorts. I could cook things in it. A little crotch pot cooking." Well, can you tell me what it feels like. "Fool, it's hot! I told you again! Were you born on the sun? It's damn hot! I saw - It's so damn hot, I saw little guys, their orange robes burst into flames. It's that hot! Do you know what I'm talking about."

Official snow report at Kilpisjärvi (271km north) 109cm. Here in Kittilä 38cm. Levi, or Sirkka is better known at Europe:
