Hey guys!
I wanted to share an update about gpu fubar2niner sent me (8800 gtx). So,i have managed to run this card ( with dvi to vga connector ) because my friend gave me his corsair psu 550w ( he bought 1000w psu ) So i started computer and i was happy when i see that i finally have run 8800 gtx that was collecting dust few months ( and years in fubar2niners place ). What i saw next was horrible. I saw upon a booting windows verical blue lines across whole screen and black lines horizontal. and all text when windows stats up was "alien text". So i managed to enter to windows, and i installed somehow nvidia drivers hoping it would solve my problems. than i restarted computer. and i saw that there were no lines and alien text ANY MORE! But after about 10 minutes screen showed small blue pyramid look like "artefacts" all over the display. and screen started to flash, while all freezed when this happened. it stoped and after few minutes again, but this time didn t stop,it flashed like minute or so and than showed BSOD "nv4_disp error" ( infinite loop error ) and it restarded my pc. When i did research around internet i have concluded that card 8800 gtx (fubar2niner have sent me) is failing or it is about to die soon. It is unfortunate that this happened. What next? |

Sorry to hear about your GFX card breathing it's last, but this is probably better being posted here:

The blue lines of death.... It is what killed my Vaio. You can limp it along by putting it in an oven for 10 minuets or so, upside down to re-set the solder. Because Lead Acid Solder is no longer allowed to be used in PC's, the solder they use now melts very easily. It will work for a few weeks, and might limp you along until you can get a new one.

Thanks for responses!
I am not gonna bake a card, lol! I have started to save money for graphic card. These are my system requirements : Intel celeron dual core 2.2 GhZ 2GB RAM Win xp 32 bit ( i have win 7 32 bit installation disk ) PSU : Corsair VS 550W (Atleast i got rid of unbranded 300 Watt one!) So i was thinking to buy HD 6670 1GB GDDR5. what do you think? is it good card for its price? I know it is entry level card, but it should run newest games on low-medium. Also my computer screen max resolution is 1280x1024. What do you think? Is HD 6670 good? |

Spec wise it looks like it will work. For me personally, I am an NVidia man so that is what I gravitate to. The AMD cards are fairly stable, and reliable.

What do you think? Also i have mixed Corsair Dominator (1GB) RAM with Pq1 RAM (2GB) so that i now have 3GB of RAM,so far no issues. Both are 800mhz and ddr2 but Corsair has 5-5-5-18 and PQ1 has 5-5-5-15 Corsair consume 1.9 v and PQ1 1.8 Both are non-ecc and unbuffered. Also they are both PC2 -6400 I dont know if this small diffrences can cause bad things to my computer? what do you think? can it fry something in it or hurt my PC? |
