Definitely wet 'n windy for a few hours overnight here (S.W. London), though no obvious signs of major damage locally. The Guardian reports that a falling tree in Hounslow caused a gas explosion, killing two people.

Last week we knew the storm that should hit England will reach us in the beginning of this week.
As the days goes it became more and more sure that it would not only be little storm. Earlier this morning the meteorologist knew it would be as bad in england. This afternoon about 1600 CET Denmark's Meteorological Institute measured the strongest winds ever in Denmark it measured 54 m/s or about 195 km/h This occurred only, thank God, in a local area of Western Jutland We had our share of this storm/hurricane here on Aero island. One of our pear trees had been broken in half like it was a matchstick on our lawn there is, lots of small and medium-sized branches and not to forget, some parts from my neighbors roof Markus |

Well, we've only just got power back on, thirty hours after the event, had a pretty nasty gust which took it out, also tore off some fence panels at a nearby building site, downed a tree and removed some tiles from our roof.
Good thing that we decided to come back from London on Sunday though since the railways shut down for all of Monday and the buses only started again in the afternoon after a double-decker got itself knocked over in the wind. As for myself, I used the same procedure for dealing with this storm as I did for the 1987 one...I slept through it... ![]() |

That's the way to do it, no point being awake and worrying what might be - if you need to be awake for something you'll soon know about it. Glad you and house ok.
