Same problem here, popped up two days ago, tracked it down to my antivirus, avast, putting the lipsync file in the virus chest for some unknown reason. Restored it and my crew found their voices again.

Same here.

Just re-installed with GWX a couple of days ago.

First patrol gave me the floating eyeballs, and all subsequent patrols missing sounds.

Same problem as you, Flakmonkey.

Avast did it to me too last night. I found it and restored it after reading Flakmonkey's post.

HW3, are you using Avast also, or a different antivirus? Wondering if the problem is unique to that AV, or more wide-spread.

Flakmonkey you are a "Genius" i have one hair left on my whole head after pulling them all out trying to resolve this issue and you came along and sorted it for me, i never even considered Anti Virus being the issue. Restored the file from the virus chest, loaded up SH3 and tested, it worked

If we were in the same nightclub, in the same flotilla you would not be paying for drinks tonight shipmate

Good to see the answer found.

Glad you got it sorted, I went the extra step of adding the sh3 directory to exclusions so avast won't interfere in the future.

Yes I use Avast. It picked up on something in the lipsync.act file that it thinks is suspicious, though we all know it is not. I just added the .act file to the exclusions, so it should not happen again.
