There is NO difference in diving depths (in SH3) between the 9B and the 9C; 165 meters for both.

To set max time compression, you must manually edit your/SHIII/data/Cfg/Main.cfg file.

There are TWO of these main.cfg files. One is in your main SH3 root directory; the second is a copy of that file, and can be found in your current career directory in /MyDocuments. Editing the former makes the change(s) for all subsequent careers or single missions; editing the latter makes the change only for that one career or mission. If you don't have a current career or single mission going, only the root directory copy exists. A fresh copy is made every time you start a new career or single mission.

[TIMECOMPRESSION] is the second section of the main.cfg file, right after [SETTINGS].

This is a copy of my edited file from my main SH3 root directory. Where I changed the SH3 default values, those default values are shown in yellow

[TIME COMPRESSION]
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=512 <= default = 4
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=2
CharacterAnim=4
EnemyDetected=1 <= default = 8
RadioReport=8
Particles=8
PrayState=128 <= default = 8
HunterState=128 <= default = 32
3DRender=32
Maximum=4096 <= the default is 1024

"Maximum" acceptable values need to be a doubling (to increase) or halving (to decrease) of prior values, just like what happens in the game. 1-2-4-8-16-32-64-128-256-512-1024-2048-4096 etc.

CAVEAT: Be sure your system - the CPU and especially your graphics card - can handle the higher TC speeds without crashing or stuttering (very low frame rates). Work your way up slowly. Remember that near shore, slow frame rates are common at high TC. Save using max TC until you are well out to sea. To see the frame rates in game, hold down CTRL and press F8. The fluctuating number of FPS (frames per second) will appear in a grey box at the top center of your screen. Repeat to hide frame rates.
