I think you mean Sodium Oxybutyricum that is a schedule 1 drug in the US.The "date rape drug" it is a depressant so combing it with alcohol puts someone in a complete stupor
it is used more commonly as a drug by loser men(who slip it into drinks) to rape women by being able to take them away do to their completely drunken/drugged state where they are able to have their way with them.
Yeah we have that here is the US sadly.

EDIT: you do mean sodium natrium another name for sodium is no longer used in English.

It is also popular to use animal tranquilizers as a date rape drug.

The most problematic drug in the US though is Methamphetamine.Nasty stuff that but very addictive and it can last for days compared to other strong drugs like Crack which only last a few minutes.
Another very popular drug in the US are synthetic opiates which people gain by going to a "pill mill" which is a pharmacy where they "legally" prescribe the pills or they just steal them form homes.

In Florida which had some of the most relaxed prescription laws in the US they passed a law that cracks down on "pill mills" which is a doctors office that has an attached dispensary. After this restriction the next year applications for stand alone pharmacies which must be approved by the FDA spiked by 500% in Florida.

It in no way makes me proud to say this by America loves drugs. If you are a US citizen and you do not use you are an ever increasing minority.

How depressing.

I kind of think that the modern culture in psychology has encouraged people to believe there is a pill for every problem. You know, "better living through chemistry".

In the United States, are there school aged girls who are not taking some sort of drug? Not from what I observed from being around the kid's friends.

It seems like everyone is on some sort of prescription. Don't know about boys (did not observe them) but I fear that it is probably the same.

Once, we overheard the kid bragging to her friends about how many prescriptions she had and her friends were doing the same right back.

Old days: My brother can beat up your brother!
These days: Oh I used to be on drug xxx, but my doctor now have me on YYY!

(facepalm)

I was thinking more about illegally acquired drugs more so than prescribed ones. Not sure why you target school age kids to be honest when it comes to legal drugs would that not to a large extent be the fault of the parent? The parent is the one paying in that case and enabling.

Also remember that kids are outstanding liars bragging being the cool thing to do so you can expect when you hear a kid bragging they are most likely lying."My dad has a Ferrari"(how come I have never seen him drive it?) "Oh well he keeps it in like a special garage hidden in a mountain." So when the kid says they are on meds most likely they really are not they just think it sounds cool to say that they are.

I assume that "the kid" is your offspring so if she says such things and you know that she is telling a fib then it is safe to assume that her friends are as well.

What is true these days is that there are plenty of illegal drugs readily available for purchase no matter where you are in the US.

No the kid ain't mine and no she was not lying. She is on more meds than you could believe. Every "problem" she has, there is a doctor prescribing a pill for it. Who knows if the doctors are even coordinating information on her. I doubt it.

I have even seen it with my own doctor. He keeps pushing drugs and I keep pushing back. Most amusing to see the expression on his face. I guess the rest of his patients feel cheated if they don't walk out of the office with a script. When I do push back, he backs down and tells me that I really don't need this drug. Then why did you mention it in the first place! I am entrusting my life to you, doctor.

The military used to be bad about the pill pushing. Up until relatively recently, you could not refuse the drugs either. I have heard that this has changed.

But you are right, I was only mentioning girls because that's what I observed. But I am sure that adults are right there with them.

Any problem, any difficulty, there is a pill or four for that.

It is a good thing that there is not a big business in developing and producing prescription drugs in this country..........oh.
