![]() ![]() Interesting, looking at it it would appear that my IDE ATA/ATAPI controller is nforce based- I'm guessing this would mean reinstalling the motherboard drivers from the disk that came with the board (gigabyte ga-7n400-l nforce2 chipset) I recall having to use the motherboard drivers instead of the default ones from window$ once before, as I had some hardware type problems or something... Looking at my DVD drive is ok though - uninstall the driver, reboot and os reinstalls the driver automatically ![]() If I were to get the latest nforce1/2 WinXP2K_WHQL driver and dpdate my existing mobo drivers would this amount to the same as allowing window$ to find its own drivers if I uninstall the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, avoiding the issue I had before concerning os and mobo drivers? I'm a bit leery of uninstalling system drivers as this action has prompted a boot failure and subsequent reinstall of the os in the past ![]() So rather than removing the existing IDE controllers I 'update' them instead with the latest (or whatever) nforce1/2 drivers from Nvidia? Effectively this would mean downloading the new nforce driver from nvidia and overwriting the old one. Sorry, loads of questions I know, but I'd rather not bite off more than I can chew with the time left of my holiday (back to work tomorrow) ![]() ![]()
