They only give those out so the NSA can get the eavesdrop on you.

I appreciate they are celebrating victory but that woman on the left would appear to be taking things too far

You know, I was watching the news here in L.A. and there was talk of the perceived dearth of acceptable or electable candidates in Austrailia. It caused me to recall the recent L.A. city elections. About 18 candidates filed to compete for the office of Mayor. The city has a population of roughly 4,000,000 or approximately one-fifth of the population of Australia. (The whole of Los Angeles County is about 10,000,000.) Of the 18, only one was a Republican; all the others were either Democrats third party, or non-partisan candidates. After the primary election, tthe two remaining candidates were both Democrats and, for all intents and purposes, were indistinguishable...

Incidentally, as a reflection of the sad stste of the GOP in California, the sole GOP candidate was a fellow by the name of Kevin James. He is not the actor/comedian of the same name; this confusion may have cost him some votes. He only garnered about 16% of the vote. Mr. James was also the only openly gay candidate on the ballot, but it is uncertain if this hurt or helped his vote count...

The late night talk show host Craig Ferguson did get off one very funny joke about Mr. James: Kevin James is a Republican and is openly gay. So the GOP voters are thinking "I'd vote for him, but he's one of 'them'" and the gay voters are thinking "I'd vote for him, but he's one of 'them'"...
