Well, if I would be darn rich, I'd buy an old Castle in Germany or even France - or just both. Being hugely interested in the medieval and a hopeless romantic... how would I not love to reside in my own Castle?

A new build one like in the OP would not interest me one bit. It is missing all the history and authenticity for me. Cool project non the less.

That reminds me of trying the lottery...

Guedelon lacks the history, yes, but it is authentic. They do all construction be methods as used in the medieval. No modern tools. Even the hammers they use, they have produced themselves, afaik. All material like bricks and planks, they have also produced themselves, by medieval procedures. The textiles also have been manually woven, by medieval tools.

I wasn't referring to Guédelon, I meant the Texan "Castle".

Default Bodiam Castle, Sussex

Looks to have been based on Bodiam castle; this beautiful place featured in a number of old movies. I've been there a few times.

Obviously thought he was above the need for planning permission.
