It took me a little while with the first one, but since I recognised Ike I just backtracked. I wouldn't have got Ford if nik hadn't mentioned Jimmy who I knew was after Nixon but before Reagan. Amazing how similar H.W is to W and how different he looked when he was president.

Actually he was a captain in the artillery in WWI which probably gave him the necessary insight to use the bomb on Hiroshima as another form of artillery which can be non discriminating in its effects; the next step down was the British Tallboy... otherwise known as the "cookie' over Berlin. But the coolest one is still old George Washington who started one war at Ohio and ended another at Yorktown and managed to get sworn in wearing his Masons apron. THey hadn't invented the Medal of Honor nor the Nobel Prize as with Teddy R. for whom the ubiquitous bear IS named. BULLY!

Actually only 12 of the 43 Presidents never served in the military.

Of the 31 who did serve there were:
12ea Generals
5ea Colonels
2ea Navy Commanders (=Lt. Colonels)
4ea Majors/Navy Lt. Commanders
6ea Captains/Navy Lieutenants
1ea 1st Lieutenant
1ea Private
