I have yet to meet Bungo Pete and I don't really look forward to the day I do.

Engaging the Akikaze in the shalldows of Bungo Suido is suicide. I just avoid him but if get trapped(it happens) I go for the down the throat shot, it works well or if have mark 18's, i ambush him.

I have the Akikaze escorting a few convoys in my RSRD install, it's a tough opponent even with a Balao at 600 feet but survivable.

I actually didn't even see him until it was too late. The Q ship was skirting the side of the shallows and I fired on it. Missed the keel shot and the bastard was on me in seconds! He was butted up against the backdrop of the coastline, in my baffles, and I don't use external cam. It was also windy and in the late evening, also a bit foggy. Anyways, it was too little to late.

It reminded me of the book, actually with him lying in wait for his prey!

How can anyone think the Bungo is shallow? I run up the center and there is plenty of depth to avoid getting hit. I have been up there way pass the Saganoseki Peninsula and Sadamisaki Peninsula have never been sunk by Pete. Most times I never even see or heard him. Where is everyone seeing him? Further up near Heigun Island?

I normally run the surface up to about 10-8000 yards from shore using TMO and RSRD

According to this chart, http://www.charts.noaa.gov/NGAViewer/97278.shtml, there is a sweet 100 meter area at the mouth of the straights. That is where I like to go.
