I would be all for that if they could find a better method of disposing of the waste. Locking it up in a salt mine is temporary at best and sticking it in tank ammo kind of spreads it all over the place. Hmm, maybe that's the real reason for the actions in Iraq and Afghanistan?

I was wondering that myself but it seems half of the existing nuclear facilities are to close in the next decade and there seemed to be a lot of foot dragging about getting anymore built:

However, this newer article shows they have made a commitment to get 2 new plants built but they won't be ready till sometime mid 2020's.

That argument flatlined many years ago.
I would say Thatchers approach to the miners as well as many other sectors was driven by her flawed political ideology more than economic realities.

Yea, in the next county over uranium ore has become an issue. So much of it that it's basically coming out of the ground. One man owns about 4000 acres that has enough ore to supply all the plants in the US for about 3 years. Those that want to drill say it's safe as long as they follow proper methods, those that are against it, site numerous issues. The waste would have to be properly stored for 1000 years.

Oh I know that Mark and considering what you experienced on a personal level I believe I can well understand your opinion.

I don't know about this. "Carrying wood chips to Newcastle" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Can't be any less profitable than trying to sell sand to the arabs

No, I reckon he'll fall in love with a Firefighter instead.

Not sure about that.

There is some pretty strong data supporting the theory that this is Steed:

or this

(jeebus Steed, get a haircut already or go to the salon)
