Living A Life That Matters
Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours, or days. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else. Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed. Your grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies will finally disappear. So too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away. It won't matter where you came from or what side of the tracks you lived on at the end. It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant. So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured? What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not your success, but your significance. What will matter is about what you learned as well as what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence, but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many felt good when they were around you and how you served them. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what. Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice. Choose to live a life that matters.

like waiting in a train station. you do not remember where you came from, you have no clue where you go to. all you have is the local temporary comforts, not understanding the why and what for. no reason to be merry and cheerful. its been years since i started to wish for a quick death, violent or not. I would rather propose the "take a moment to think of the meaning of all this" instead of sitting down and enjoying food and wine and sunshine.

Can we think about it while sitting, drinking and enjoying the sunshine?

You should write a book with some "Steve" quotes. You really do drop some great knowledge bombs. Butt-kissing over. Deep song, great album! (No Bill Ward ![]()

You ever hear of the butterfly theory? Where a butterfly flapped its wings in a certain way and created the optimal conditions for our abundant life. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect Kinda like how one small deed, could cascade into one huge triumph! ![]() There is an Eastern Philosophy that lives and believes like that, but the particular name escapes me.

You can find the man here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ght=highwayman
The SanDiegoHiwayman helps those broke down and does it for free. His 5O's wagon he uses was in an accident. Others that frequent the board got together to help him out. New front clip for his car. Work and shop to repair it is free. I think Chip Foose should overhaul is ride. A sure pay it forward for a guy that helps others for nothing.

It's sad....but true sometimes.
![]() --- Anyway, Cybermat47...I was 14 not too long ago. I know how it is. Life really can be a bitch. If something has you down, think of how great your future is going to be when none of this matters. What do you want to do when you get older? Think about that. Find something to keep you busy or something that can keep your mind off of the bad. Talk to your friends (I don't know where I'd be without them) and just don't concentrate on the bad. It also helps to talk to somebody who's been there...who's gone through the same... It'll get better. Kids our age go through the same stuff all over the world. Turbulence doesn't last forever. Find stuff you like doing and just do it. Don't care about what anybody else thinks...and though you may be questioning beliefs (I've done it too...) always remember where you come from and never forget your family. If it's not too personal and you need somebody to vent...talk to...whatever...I'll be here by PM or Steam. ![]()

If you can leave a tiny part of the world a tiny bit better, then you have had a successful life.
