No its just you.
![]() Like all things it depends on your point of view. If you are a victim of a drone attack, then aside from being dead, you would probably be on the side of the argument that says they are a bad idea. If you sell military hardware and in particular drones, then you'd say its a very good idea. There are all shades in between. They save lives, they take lives. So do humans. What's the difference? |

Yes...using drones saves lives while also taking them. We are behind on our cybersecurity.... What's to stop the Chinese from hacking into our drone fleet and unleashing hell? Drones are very useful and they can be good....but they just give me that bad gut feeling ya know? I'm just not real sure we should put all of our military power into something that isn't directly controlled by humans. Humans can't be hacked into and turned on their owners (as easily) like Drones can. Humans make mistakes....but if the drone fleet gets hacked into and turned on the American people...those drones are going to kill like they've been designed to do it....like a machine. It might just be a crazy thought...but hey...the DoD has an official Zombie Defense Strategy. I'm allowed to think about contingencies and what could happen if our tax money went to the formation of a zombie defense plan. --- I'm open to suggestions...as of now...I am not convinced that drones are a good idea.

I can't agree that humans are better at determining targets. Drones target recognition is only as good as the humans that either design it or sit at the remote control unit. No difference at all. Blue on Blue incidents have happened since we started putting some distance between combatants with ranged weapons, meaning they go back to the days of bow and arrow. Will it get worse than it has already been? Ultimately I don't think it matters until we get a Skynet situation.
One of the keys to good contingency planning is having a clear understanding of the risk profile. That profile also needs to include the likelihood of a risk becoming an issue. |

Blue on Blue happens. Yes...the target recognition is only as good as the humans...but then think... How long will it be before we make that automatic too? How long will it be until we don't have conventional soldiers because we use drone soldiers? Will modern warfare be fought from the Armchair General's Chair? What would happen if we just had a few guys controlling most of our military's drone fleet...and in reality....most of the military. What happens when you add corruption, cyberwarfare, WMD's.... ![]() --- Just some thoughts...

What happens is you get what we have now with added robots. No difference.

Added robots?
Another thing that could do drastically wrong? ![]() Not completely sure. I think a paradox just opened up in my mind again. I'll think on this. There's no way of knowing what will happen since we can't predict the future. If we fix the country and fix our cybersecurity...I can see drones working fine. If we just make a million drones right now, go further into debt...and let the Chinese steal it all.... ![]()

Even if it does operate without remote control, it does so under instructions written by a human. The accountability and responsibility are still with a human.

Then we can only hope that's been made clear instead of having a circus of people pointing their fingers at one another.
