You need to unload the "Fix French" mod in JSGME.

Then... READ THE GWX MANUAL!!!! (It's in your documentation folder... and is a work of art in itself.)

Gave it a good read through. Its a fantastic 'manual', practically a history book. Outstanding work...

Can't find anything about changing the start date though. I gotta start another campaign as ya can't change the mods while out on patrol.

You can change the start year in the screen where you select your flottille, or install SH3 Commander which allows you to change the start month and year, along with a host of other options. I consider it a must have.

As was noted, if you start in 1939 you have a month to wait until the war starts. I go out on "shakedown cruises" to earn qualifications for my crew.

If you shoot at anyone before the war starts, they are all friendlies and that country will be at war with you for like 24 hours - they will shoot at you if they see you.

If you want points for hitting your patrol grid there is a file you can edit to get points for it. You'll have to search for it as I don't remember the file.

I give myself points for my patrol grid requirements since later in the war that may be the only thing you are able to accomplish.

The simplest way is just to pick September 1939 as your start date rather than August.

My favorite is to use SH3 Commander. I do a 'false' patrol by just starting on August 1 and ending the patrol a minute later. Once that is registered you can use Commander to give qualifications to all your crew, which is historically accurate. Then I set Commander's 'Days In Base' function for 18 days. This makes my first real patrol start on August 19, which is the date that fourteen boats were sent to the North Atlantic to await the start of hostilities. That way I'm on station when the war starts.
