I'm still somewhat new in the Subsim world but I've played SH3 an SH5 an so far I like SH5 better mostly cuz of the graphics, I like being able to walk around my ship an talk to my crew, plus I've been lucky to not have to deal w/ half the problems w/ SH5 that I've heard about like the CTD an playin the tutorial which normally causes trouble w/ playing the campaign. SH3 is a great game too only thing I didnt like was having to drag an drop the crew in an out of the sleeping quarters area's.

Please note: This is an opinion! YMMV!

SH3 lacks the elegant graphics and detailed simulation of SH4 and SH5, but for me it is the most immersive, hands down. This is purely subjective, but (with GWX and SH3Cmdr, of course), it provides me with the best sense of role-playing a submarine commander and having to make historically appropriate decisions. This in spite of the fact that my primary interest is not the U-Dienst, but the US Silent Service.

Yes, this is all subjective and personal taste.
But nowadays, i can't get immersion without a good eye candy at least...
When it looks too fake, 50% of enjoyment is gone for me, that's why i prefer SH5.
I could stay hours just watching the so nice sea and scenary rendering.
SH4 isn't bad at all, and it's a very stable game even modded.
SH3, i tried it again for some minutes with GWX3, but have to admit i gave up very quickly. Too many years from nowadays standarts...

My first wife was a model. Since then, eye candy has not been one of my priorities.

SH3 (GWX) is more fun.

I'm trying to get into SH5 but i'm struggling to be honest.

Subsimmer wisdom! eye candy is a convoy of fat juicy ranger tankers- no wasting of eels just the deck gun will do!.

Actually, running back to tell Olaf to prepare a meal to keep Benno's morale up and telling Heine to help with the eels and then scrambling back up to the con constitutes my aerobic workout. If I'm really pooped, I hit Shift-U. Still need a mod to tell Willi to clutch the diesel to the generator to get to Drumbeat or the South Atlantic as refits at Bonaire and Dakar are arduous. Tnx again for mod list; its the best I've viewed so far. Havent figured how to set FATs as in SHII yet.
