Hi,

I have a question concerning the Ship Name feature. How does SH3 Commander choose the right name? It seems to me that the names are defined for the 'ClassName', however, the captain's log does not include the 'ClassName', but only the name from 'EnglishNames.cfg'... Now what happens if I choose the same name, e.g., 'Medium freighter' for two 'ClassName's in 'EnglishNames.cfg'?

Regards, LGN1

Best regards.

Sorry I didn't see this back when. Commander doesn't read from the 'EnglishNames' file. It reads directly from its own list. I you look at the Ship Names list itself you'll see that the classes are all named identically to the class name in the Roster folder. It sees what the class name for the ship is in the Roster folder, then takes a name from the identical class name in the Ship Names list. I'm pretty sure that EnglishNames only determines what the ship is called in the Recognition manual.
