This is why I wanted an upstairs apartment, and why if I can ever afford a place of my own the computer will be as far upstairs as it can get (a little tower would be nice). The point isn't that you don't want people watching you (well, that's important too), it's so you can look down on people! I can see cars go by and people walking along, but they are all beneath me! it helps that I'm at least one hundred feet from the road, but that's a side-issue. The important part is feeling superior.
Well originally I was going to put the office in the second bedroom upstairs but then I realized how far I would be from the kitchen. So I would have a choice of either going up and down the stairs every time I wanted to refresh my drink or get a snack, or put a mini-fridge and pantry in there.

And that would've put my "workout" room in what's now the office on the ground floor. And I figured that anyone walking by might be more likely to stop and stare at someone doing karate moves than at someone sitting at a computer, since the latter is probably something they can see at home whereas the former is a bit more of a rarity.

In reality, in all the time I've spent in that room working on stuff, I don't think I've ever seen anyone walk by those windows, even though there's a little sidewalk there. I do have the advantage of hedges blocking part of the windows and at least one tree or bush between the condo and the sidewalk.

And I always intended to put privacy blinds over those windows anyway. I just didn't know I'd need to find something so quickly due to the blinding sunlight issue, lol. I can draw the curtains that are already there for privacy but as you can see in some of the pictures the sunlight just cuts right through them.

Extra excercise.

I would consider that a necessity anyway. Not really, but I thought it was funny.

As for people looking in, that's what curtains are for.

Not a problem when you're working out. See, I'm full of good ideas. That's not all I'm full of, but I'll thank you not to go into that in public.

Aren't you grateful to have lame old busybodies telling you how to live your life?

Sorry, but I have a big sister... so that job's already taken.

I still haven't broken the news about how the dining room is probably never gonna be a dining room. I don't think she's quite accepted the fact that there won't ever be fully furnished guest bedroom.

Don't ever tell her. Let her notice something's "wrong". When she asks, tell her "Later". "Someday". "Don't worry, I'll get around to it".

I think if she shows up one day and there's a piano, guitar, stereo, and bookcases in there, she'll probably figure it out on her own.

Woohoo, back by 7 PM tonight!

Of course all I did was come to the apt after work, load up the car, run over to the condo, unload the car, move about a dozen boxes of books from one side of the living room to the other, reposition a table and lamp and the stereo, do some spot cleaning on the living room carpet, and fix the grommets on my desk so they fit nice and snug in their little holes. Then I came home and loaded up the car again so I can take that stuff straight over there tomorrow and then come back here and start packing more stuff.

So I feel like I haven't gotten anything done today at all.

But never fear, I've got some bookshelves to take apart and move before dinner and I've still got to talk to someone at the cable company about moving my service. If I can get that done, perhaps I'll go to bed with a feeling of accomplishment after all.

No home should have a guest room. It just encourages guests.

That's like building a house and calling one room a "Termite Room"

Lol, that's exactly what I said.

"Aren't you going to have a guest room?"

"No, that just encourages people!"

Then I was told I *had* to have somewhere for guests to sleep. And I'm like... didn't you pass that Howard Johnson's right down the street on your way over here?

Edit: aaaaaaand the cable man is coming to the condo on 5/28, so that's done. Except I asked for a third setup in the master bedroom and I don't even have a tv for in there yet. I figured I might as well have the installation done while he's there setting up the rest of it, but now I realize that he's probably gonna need a TV to make sure the box works. Oops. I wonder if I can unhook one of the others and run it up the stairs to try it out on the third box?

Actually I don't think I paid that much for the one that's probably going in the office... I should check Amazon and see if the same model is still available. Unlike the one in the living room it actually has good sound without a sound system set up for it, which is what I'm gonna want in the bedroom.

Or like buying two dogs and telling the family not to pet the one dog because it's reserved for guests.

First thing I did after the boy moved into his own home....took possession of the vacant area and created the 'man cave'.
